Domain Blocker for Google
Sometimes you side with something quietly. Not with a banner or a tweet thread, but with a small decision. A line of code. A shift in what you choose to see, or not see.
I made a Firefox extension. It blocks certain domains from Google search results. That’s it. Nothing fancy. You type something, you search, and a few links just don’t show up. If you want better blocking capabilities for ads and telemetry, check my Pi-hole setup using Raspbery Pi Zero 2w.
I built it for myself first. Because lately, some sites feel heavier to click on. Not because of headlines, but because of everything in between the lines. So I decided I’d rather not give them my attention, even by accident.
You might use this tool for other reasons. Maybe to hide low-quality spam. Maybe to clean up your search flow. Doesn’t matter.
The point is: sometimes, intention is the feature. Not the functionality. This is one of those times.
It’s simple. Like choosing what to look at. You can find it here
The extension, Domain Blocker for SERP, is a lightweight add-on that lets you block unwanted domains from Google search results with a single click. It is like Google’s personal blocklist. It offers a straightforward interface for managing your personal blocklist. The tool supports all Google search domains worldwide and provides multi-language support. Notably, it operates with a privacy-first approach: no personal data collection, no tracking, and all data stored locally without external server communication. It’s ideal for users seeking to personalize their search experience by filtering out irrelevant or undesired sources.
I’m planning to bring it to Chrome soon and keep adding small features over time. It’s open source, so if you’re curious, feel free to tinker with it yourself.
